Based on the original 2001 movie directed, created, and penned by Baz Luhrmann, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is a live retelling of the same romantic tale focused on Christian, an American writer, and Satine, the Moulin Rouge nightclub star entertainer. The film to stage musical, which debuted at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in 2019, takes a fresh perspective by broadening on the the original movie, especially with musical arrangements, with over 70 numbers attributed to 161 composers reaching the first showing on the live stage.
