This is to ensure that both the audience and actors have a smooth, uninterrupted experience. Audience members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these ahead of time for the best experience. Here are some of the main rules for you to be aware of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1. Do not arrive late to a show<\/strong><br>Please remember that if you arrive after the event has begun, it will be distracting to others, including the actors on stage and other people in the audience.<br>A recommended time to arrive is 30 minutes prior to the start of an event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. Do not swap seats<\/strong><br>Please stay in your correct seats during a performance.<br>As you book your tickets for an event online you will be allocated a specific seat number, this should be kept the same at all times. As others will be arriving and will want to sit in their chosen seats also.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. Do not use your cell during a performance<\/strong><br>Please keep all use of electronic devices to an absolute minimum. Turn off or switch cell to silent before the event begins and remember to check any beepers or alarms too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Code of conduct<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The New Amsterdam Theatre revolves around a simple code of conduct for guests to follow. Here are the rules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bb   Guests under the age of 14 should be accompanied by another guest aged 14 or older.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Guests will not disrupt a performance in any way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Guests are not permitted to hang, display or distribute material in the theatre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Patrons may not engage in demonstrations, speeches, or the use of any flag, banner, or sign.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Patrons should only sit in the seat on their ticket and may be required to display their ticket if requested by a member of staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Guests should comply with all directions from theatre staff regarding operations and emergency response procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Guests should not smoke tobacco or e-cigarettes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   All bags, parcels, clothing and other items may be subject to screen or security checks. You must store large bags at coat check. Patrons with concerns may also request alternative screening processes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Photography, videotaping or recording is not permitted during the performance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Visibly intoxicated guests may be asked to leave.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prohibited items<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also important to note that there are a number of items that are prohibited by the theatre. This is to ensure everyone\u2019s safety before, during and after a performance. These items include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bb   Weapons of any kind (this includes firearms, ammunition, knives, scissors etc), as well as objects that appear to be weapons (including toy guns, blasters, and so on).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Alcoholic beverages, marijuana or illegal substances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Outside food and beverages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Cameras or video-recording equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Flashlights and laser pointers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Noisemaking devices and fireworks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Pets or other animals apart from service animals. Service animals need to remain on a leash and under the control of the owner at all times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bb   Any other item theatre staff believe to be harmful or disruptive \u2013 keep in mind this is at their discretion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a general note, the New Amsterdam Theatre has the right to refuse entry or require any person to leave the theatre without a refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dress code<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When attending a play at the New Amsterdam Theatre, there is no strict dress code that is enforced. However, many guests choose to dress in smart-casual attire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety procedures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note that the theatre has a number of safety procedures in place to safeguard guests in the event of an emergency. If these procedures are put into place, you should closely follow the directions of the stewards.
