It\u2019s in the center of the world-famous Broadway district, with neighbors including Times Square&#8217;s high-end boutiques and popular attractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The venue opened in 1973. Sam Minskoff and Sons \u2014 prolific local real estate developers \u2014 inspired the theater\u2019s name, which remains to this day, while it was designed by Kahn and Jacobs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The venue is on the third floor of One Astor Plaza, one of the area\u2019s many skyscraper buildings. It is managed and operated by the legendary Nederlander Organization \u2014 part of their nine-venue Broadway theater empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With 1,700 seats, the Minskoff Theatre resembles a typical Broadway scene. You\u2019ll find decorative fittings, plush seating, and fantastic staging. The property was built by \u2014 and named after &#8211; Sam Minskoff, a local real estate developer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With its spot on the third floor, the Minskoff Theatre immediately integrated into the wider Broadway district. In the 1970s, shows such as Henry Fonda\u2019s Clarence Darrow and Bette Midler\u2019s Clams on the Half Shell Revue put the venue on the map.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its popularity grew in the 1980s, as the theater hosted productions like Cabaret, Sweet Charity, and West Side Story. In more recent times, shows such as Fiddler on the Roof, Dance of the Vampires, Saturday Night Fever, Black and Blue, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have ensured the Minskoff Theatre is packed every night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2006, it became the home of The Lion King. This massively popular play has now called the Minskoff Theatre home for almost two decades, playing to adoring fans year-round.
