Moulin Rouge - The Musical

Al Hirschfeld Theatre

The 2001 Baz Luhrmann film, Moulin Rouge earned nominations at the 74th Academy Awards, grossing nearly $180 million worldwide. This instant hit musical film about passion and tragedy wasn't forgotten and is now a hit Broadway show performed around the globe. The Broadway show had a long and rocky start since there were merely whispers of a Broadway adaptation in 2002 and 2006. But in 2016, it was formally announced that this glamorous film would join Broadway. The show finally debuted in 2019 but took a year-and-a-half break starting in 2020 thanks to worldwide events, but it has been up and performing since mid-2021 with great success.

The tale of music composer Christian and Parisian entertainer Satine will make you want to fall in love. Christian meets talented French Bohemians who want to write songs for a theatrical production and agree to work with him to get their play into production at the Moulin Rouge theater. Satine works at this theater, but it's quickly failing and has a real risk of shutting down. Satine wants to save the Moulin Rouge and considers seducing a wealthy Duke who has shown interest in investing in the theater to save it. However, Satine and Christian cross paths and fall in love. Of course, the Duke doesn't like the situation and threatens to chancel his investment, and threatens Christian's life if he doesn't leave Satine alone.

This intoxicating tale of love and glamour will have you on the edge of your seat. You'll be swept away by these characters and the music they perform. The jukebox musical combines many songs to create unforgettable mash-ups you won't stop singing for weeks. You'll hear the songs from the movie from Patti LaBelle, Elton John, and more, with modern hits from Katy Perry, Lorde, and many others. If you love pop music hits from the past 50 years, you won't want to miss this grandiose production that will have you moving to the rhythm as you enjoy the show.

Whether you grab your friends, family, a date, or go alone, you won't want to miss "Moulin Rouge!” The romantically spicy play tells a story about love, truth, and beauty and does so with excitement.
