A story of difficult love between an unlikely pair, Moulin Rouge! The Musical recounts to us a tragic yet swoonworthy story in the equally romantic location of Paris, France. At the center of Montmartre, Christian, a motivated composer who moves in Paris with the goal of achieving his dreams, meets the most beautiful woman he has seen and club entertainer, Satine, in the renowned nightclub Moulin Rouge. Christian and Satine then struggle to keep their love alive against all odds, as another jealous man sets his sights on Satine as his muse.

Paying tribute to Baz Luhrmann's original that was produced more than a decade after the late motion picture, this musical's early challenge was to take this known narrative and giving it a modern touch. The masterful approach of the team, just like the original movie, was to tell the tragic love story with never heard of renditions of this generation's pop arrangements. The next move was to supersize the score and truly turn the musical into a “a modern retelling of Moulin Rouge”, as the producers name it. The result, as watched on the Broadway stage, was a melting pot of stunning medleys, mash-ups, and arrangements. Though the Broadway play stays true to some of the 2001 picture's beloved tracks including Lady Marmalade, Moulin Rouge now includes pop songs from the recent decade including Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Beyonce’s Single Ladies, and Britney Spears’ Toxic among so many other pop songs.
