Founded on the original 2001 film directed, created, and penned by Baz Luhrmann, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is a live adaptation of the same romantic tale focused on Christian, an American writer, and Satine, the Moulin Rouge venue entertainer. The Broadway musical, which debuted at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in less than a decade ago, attempts a modern approach by broadening on the the original movie, especially with musical arrangements, with over 70 songs attributed to 161 writers and composers reaching the final cut on the Broadway stage.
