A secret affair in the middle of a bustling city, Moulin Rouge! The Musical tells us a classical tale of romance in the equally passionate location of Paris, France. In the underbelly of Montmartre, Christian, a traveling composer who journeys in Montmartre with nothing but hope in his heart, stumbles upon the most beautiful woman he has seen and star performer, Satine, in the nightclub Moulin Rouge. Christian and Satine then struggle to keep their love alive against all odds, as another jealous man sets his target on Satine as his muse.

Paying tribute to Baz Luhrmann's original that was produced more than a decade after the 2001 motion picture, Moulin Rouge! The Musical’s initial struggle was to take this known narrative and giving it a modern touch. The best move of the production, just like the original motion picture, was to share the secret romantic affair with never heard of renditions of this generation's pop songs. The obvious solution was to expand the song list and truly turn it into a “a creative peek into the 1900s”, as the creators name it. The outcome, as viewed on the live stage, was an enormous collection of excellent medleys, mash-ups, and numbers. Though the Broadway play keeps many of the original picture's beloved tracks including Lady Marmalade, the hit musical now includes pop songs from the current times including Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Beyonce’s Single Ladies, and Britney Spears’ Toxic performed in unique arrangements.
